Description

Curry leaves are commonly called sweet neem leaves because they have a similar texture to neem leaves. The leaves are used for flavor, aroma, and medicinal properties in India as well as in various neighboring countries such as Sri Lanka. Often used in meat dishes, these herbal leaves from the curry tree add a refreshing flavor to the meat.

The curry tree, part of the Rutaceae family, which includes citrus, is classified with the botanical genus Murraya Koenigii. This small tree, which grows to a mere 13 feet to 20 feet, includes a trunk of about 40 cm in diameter. It contains 11 to 21 leaflets (2–4 cm long and 1–2 cm wide) and aromatic leaf pinnacles.
