About Devadhari Kattai ( Devdar ):

Deodar trees are elegant and beautiful ornamental trees that can be found in the Western Himalayas. It is an evergreen coniferous large tree that can reach 40-50m high, and in some cases 60m. The trunk can be up to 3m wide. The conic crown has horizontal branches with drooping limblets. The needle-like leaves are 2.5-5 cm in length, but can be up to 7 cm. They are slender and 1 mm thick, they grow singly or in clusters. The female cones have a barrel shape, are 7-13 cm in length and 5-8 cm wide, and they disintegrate after maturing (in about 12 months). The male cones, which are about 4-6 cm in length and release pollen during autumn, are also a rounded shape.

• Deodar can be used to treat inflammations, paralysiss, kidney stones and other conditions. It is also used for diabetes, fevers, swellings, infection, fungus or bacteria.
• It is anti-inflammatory, anti-poison and anti-spasmodic. Deodar's anti-inflammatory and spasmodic properties are due to its presence of various compounds, such as Himachal, allohimacholol (control), himadarol, etc.
• The decoction is used to treat fever and painful urination. The decoction encourages urination.
• A decoction is made from the bark to treat diarrhoea or dysentery.
• To treat breathlessness or hiccups you can take a decoction made from deodar wood twice a day.

How to Consume  Thevatharu ( Himalayan Cedar ) Internally:-

Morning - Boil the contents for a few moments after mixing 5gms powder with 100ml of water. Filter the contents and drink them before eating. After dinner, repeat the process for the Evening Dosage.

How to Apply Thevatharu ( Devdar ) Externally:-

• Mustard oil is used to make a paste from Deodar for inflammation, filarial and glandular disease. The paste is applied directly on the affected area.
• Devdaru paste is applied to indolent swellings. Tar is used as an alternative in the treatment of chronic skin conditions and leprosy. Tar is applied topically to ulcers.
