About Chitharathai / Sitharathai / Lesser Galangal Dried (Raw):
Chitharathai is a plant from India with dark green leaves that are lighter underneath. It has fragrant white, yellow, and red flowers resembling snapdragons. The botanical name for Sitharathai is Alpinia Calcarata, and it is easy to grow. The plant has narrow stems and produces many flowers. The red and white flowers are attractive and grow on upright stems. Chitarathai thrives in medium sunlight and well-drained soil. It blooms in the second year and can grow up to 1.5 meters tall. The glossy green leaves are large and narrow, measuring 15-30 cm in height and 2.5-5 cm in width. The plant has oblong rhizomes, branches out horizontally, and produces large aromatic flowers in dense clusters. The flowers have yellowish-white corolla segments with purple veins.

How to consume Chitharathai Internally:
- For Cough: A piece of this plant's rhizome is slowly chewed, which is good for a cough with sputum. It is also good for vomiting issues.
- Take 1 to 3 grams of rhizome powder three times a day for rheumatic ailments.
- For babies and kids: Baking rhizome and mixing it with honey or breast milk can help with digestive and breathing issues.
- Mix powdered Athimathuram, Arathai, Thalesapathri, and Thippili with an equal amount of rhizome powder. Give this mixture with honey to treat headaches, fever, and indigestion.
- To help with digestion, take 1 to 5 grams of rhizome powder twice daily before eating.
