About Thandrikkai (Beleric):-
Terminalia Belerica, commonly known as Thandrikkai in Tamil, is distributed across the Indian subcontinent, Sri Lanka, and South East Asia, thriving at up to 900 meters. This majestic deciduous tree boasts a buttressed trunk and can reach 20-30 meters high. Its bark is thick and brownish-grey with shallow longitudinal fissures. The foliage is tightly packed at the tips of the branches., arranged alternately with entire margins. They are elliptic to obovate with rounded or sub-acute tips and a prominent midrib and are initially pubescent before maturing into a glabrous texture. The flowers are pale greenish-yellow and emit an unpleasant odor, blooming in axillary spikes that exceed the length of the petioles but fall short of the leaves.
