About Vellai Kungiliyam ( White Dammer):-
White Dammar, an evergreen tree, is found at an altitude of over 1200 meters in the Western Ghats. It will grow up to 40 meters in height, its bark is smooth and greyish, and the young branches are round and hairy. The leaves are spirally aligned, alternately, and simple. They are elliptic and oblong, with an abruptly blunt or long-pointed apex. Bases can be round or heart-shaped. Margins are entire and leathery. Flowers are white with yellow anthers in panicles at the leaf axils. Fruits are pale brown capsules, up to 6cm x 3.8cm, and one seeded. White dammar is the resin obtained by scratching off the bark of Vateria indicia. It is also called "Indian Copal," "Chupa Fat," and "Malabar Fallow." used in India for incense sticks and soaps, as well as to make candles. In India Commonly used in Puja
