About Yanai Nerunjil ( Large Caltrops ):-

The Large Caltrop is a stiff-stemmed, shrubby herb that grows in India. It has several medicinal uses. It can grow up to 60cm tall, is annual, has many branches, is succulent, glandular, and spreads widely. The roots are yellow, similar to turmeric. Leaves are opposite, simple, ovate to oblong obovate, 1 - 4.5 cm long. They are irregularly serrated and crenated. Yellow flowers are 1.5-2 cm wide, with a 1-2 mm stalk. Fruits can be up to 4mm long. Sepals are 2 mm long; teeth are linear and scaly outside. Petals are fused into a tube 1-3 cm in length. The seed has five sharp spines on the four-angled side. The leaves are eaten as vegetables.
